About me

Richard d’Avy, originally licensed KA5CFX as a Novice class circa 1977 later licensed as KB5FMJ then N5YPJ. Reside in Del Rio, Texas.

I enjoy chasing DX, working RTTY especially the contests and exploring the weak signal digital sound card modes on 20 meters and above when open when not on 30 and 40 meters. Rarely get on 80 meters it is difficult to get my dipole to load there and the noise level here is bad. Antenna upgrades now allow me to be active on 10 thru 40 meters including 12, 17 & 30 meters as conditions allow!

I belong to the Coyote Amateur Radio Club located in Uvalde, Texas and have had the pleasure of having been a V.E. there at several testing sessions.

I’m not as active as I’d like to be as far as contests and chasing what DX there is these days due to the residuals of the surgery I had several months ago. See the small apple and where I am now for details if you like.

QSL: I am now doing QSL cards for those who need a card please submit all requests with a S.A.S.E.  I use LoTW and upload regularly. I am happy to confirm Val Verde County for those who hunt counties. likewise DL99 for the grid hunters. Please submit all requests with a S.A.S.E. I have some disability, do not drive and hand writing is not great so I really appreciate S.A.S.E and it will speed your request being processed.

Do you need to work Val Verde County Texas for Worked All Counties? Email me for a scheduled QSO if doable. Likewise if you need DL99 on HF, I don’t work above 10 meters sorry.
